New Music: Big Boi & Nas

22 04 2008

Big Boi (feat. Andre 3000 & Raekwon) - “Royal Flush”

This track is Jim Jones approved.

This leaked last week I think, but I figured I’d share anyway because it’s hot. I’ve been ready for some new OutKast for a minute. This is close enough… Big Boi featuring Andre 3000 and Raekwon. All hot verses, I think I like Big Boi’s the best… but Andre really takes the shit over toward the end. It sounds more like his song. The Isleys sample is ill. I like this, breath of fresh air, and knocks.

Maxim Maintaining Journalistic Integrity As Usual

27 02 2008

Maxim magazine has apologized to Nas for reviewing his album “Nigger” — giving it 2.5 stars — because the album hasn’t even been completed yet.

RAPPER Nas was shocked when Maxim gave his new album, “N - - - - r,” a 21/2-star review - because it isn’t even finished yet. “I’m finishing the album now, and it will be out April 22,” Nas told Page Six. Maxim has since apologized for the premature review, but Nas doesn’t care. “I’d prefer [a review from] Playboy,” the rapper said. “That kind of stuff doesn’t reach my radar or effect anybody around me. I don’t know what a music rating from Maxim is . . . I don’t know what it even means really.” Maxim also reviewed the Black Crowes’ album, “War Paint,” without listening to it in its entirety. Are we really surprised by this? I mean it’s not like Woodward and Bernstein are running Maxim. LOL @ Nas shitting on them.

Nasir & Shawn To Team Up For Joint Album?

26 02 2008

Illseed is reporting there’s word floating around that Nas and Jay-Z may do an album together titled Kings of Hip-Hop that will come out on yet another new label from Jay-Z, the “Jay-Z Carter Music Group”. I don’t care if it comes out on Amil Sets Up The Blue Light Special Records, this is something I hope is actually in the works IF they do it right.

In the meantime, here’s a new Nas track called “What It Is” produced by DJ Khalil from the upcoming N*gger.

Nas Covers The 100th Issue of XXL

8 01 2008

Nas Mayweather covers the upcoming 100th issue of XXL.

Nas Vs. The YT’s — Coming Soon!

And (pause) but does this dude ever age!? I swear man, Nas got them crack genes. As in, they don’t crack. In 5 years, he’s gonna look the same and Kelis will look like an old shriveled up Praying Mantis with blonde hair. Po’ thang.

New Nas Album Cover?

27 12 2007

I KNOW this can’t be real, much like the Janet-tron fan made picture LOL. I HOPE this isn’t real.

But if it is….OHEMGEE.

Umm…I have no words…except for that Nas looks…very scholarly? Which I am sure was purposeful being that the title is Nigger LOL.

Could you imagine the following exchange:

YT Man: *walks into record store* “Excuse men, can I get that ‘Nigger’?”
Black Store Clerk: “Yo, WTF you just say?! Did you just call me a nigger?!”
YT Man: “No sir, no, I just want to get a copy of Nas’ latest record ‘Nigger’!”
Black Store Clerk: “Yo homie, GTFO out of my store before you get stole on!”

Heads are going to roll next year. Don Imus might as well get out his confetti and streamers because he’s going to have a field day with this.

Here’s to hoping this is fake though. Maybe this is why Jay-Z quit LOL. He didn’t EVEN want to deal with the fallout from THIS album.

Nas, You Just Keep Digging A Bigger Hole For Yourself

4 12 2007

I love Nasir, I do, but he’s killing me with these quotables. Where is Kelis to corral this dude?! Hit ‘em with da hee Kelis!

“I have a song called ‘The Fear,’ ” he said. “The full title of the record is ‘The Fear of the Black Man’s D—.’ That’s some sh- you can get comedy [from], or you can get some seriousness from it when you talk about the barbaric castrations that happened in our past — which is very serious, nothing to laugh at.”

Nas also said that despite the serious name of his project — which has already set off a firestorm of controversy — the LP will be balanced, and he emphasized that he is not singling out any one race.

“It’s not an attack on white people at all,” he promised, regarding the record’s content. “It’s knowledge; it’s understanding for all people. It’s not an attack on any race.”

Nas clarified that he will be combating a myriad of racial slurs, not just the one after which he named his album.

“It’s about the attacks that have happened to blacks, whites, all ethnicities,” he continued. ” ‘Mick’ niggers, ‘guinea’ niggers, ‘kike’ niggers. I have a song called ‘You a Nigger Too.’ “ (source)

Nas stole my song! I swear fo’ Sweet Minty Jesus, this YT dude cut me off in traffic and almost took me out. Almost had me laying on the side of the 405. I honked furiously at him to drive safely. I went around him and he mouthed at me, “Nigger!” I said, “YOU’S A NIGGER TOO!” I put a Juanita Bynum word-curse on him and drove off.

Anyway, I digress.

Nas is KILLING me right now. “Fear of A Black Dick”? REALLY? I know what he’s talking about…but I’m telling you…there are some thirsty YT broads women in Los Angeles ALONE who won’t be on “Fear Factor” for THAT one. Just ask Kobe Bryant. It’s the truth, sorry! Telling it like it is. LOL.

Nas Gets Pushed Back…No One Is Surprised.

27 11 2007

With all the controversy surrounding this album, people didn’t realize that “Oh there’s been no single for this ‘new record.’” It was supposed to be dropping next month, but Jay-Z needs to finish promoting his mental diarrhea before anyone else on Def Jam gets the chance to have a life in the music business;

So far there’s been a lot of talk about Nas’ controversially titled new LP, Nigger, but no music. The man — and the album’s title — has caused incitement and excitement without the public hearing a single note or rap.

Nas had originally planned to put the project out next month, but according to his camp, the album has been pushed to February: Black History Month. Nas told MTV News the first single will drop sometime in January. (source)

Black History Month? Miss Cleo saw that coming while sitting in a Catholic church.

I’m still on the fence about this. Nas just better hope that Jay-Z doesn’t decide to record a new album based on him seeing “Roots” at Mama Tina’s house during Black History Month. Cause you know TV One will wear OUT some “Roots”!

Nas Talks His New Album “Nigger”

15 11 2007

Watch the video — I see what Nas is saying. Especially the part where ole’ girl was like, “I’m uncomfortable!” LOL. She asked a good question though. “Would you be mad if I said it?” He gave a great answer, basically saying “not if you were talking about my album, but anything else, hell yeah!” LOL. I paraphrase of course.

I think controversy is a double edged sword…

Video: Nas - “Hustlers” Feat. The Game (Unreleased)

11 11 2007

Man, this was one of my favorite joints from “Hip Hop Is Dead” for real. I remembered when they were shooting the video and it didn’t even dawn on me that they hadn’t released this joint. I spotted it at Nah Right and had to post it up.

The beat for this song was just so menacing and funky. I loved it. Nas can not really do any wrong in my book honestly.

LOL why does The Game look like Rick Ross & Anthony Hamilton had a nappy headed hoe baby though? Ay dios mio, I need him to hit up the Slauson Swap Meet and get a pair of clippers. For real.

Nas Folds Like A Metal Chair…But NOT REALLY.

19 10 2007

Nas is crackin’ me up right now. He is getting his Kelly Clarkson on by bucking the system. However, this is pretty retarded if you ask me. Tomato, tomato! Potato, potato! I vote we just call this whole thing off (as in this title PERIOD):

In the face of mounting controversy, Nas has changed the name of his next album from “N*gga” to “N*gger.” The rapper says the project will be released Dec. 11 via Def Jam, although that date could not be confirmed with the label at deadline.

“You ain’t got no business worrying about what the word ‘n*gger’ is or acting like you know what my album is about without talking to me,” Nas tells MTV.com about the negative response to the album title from public figures such as the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Earlier this week, FoxNews.com quoted a “source close to” Def Jam chairman Antonio L.A. Reid as saying the album was not on the label’s release schedule. “None of us knows where that came from,” Nas said.

The new album will be the follow-up to last year’s “Hip-Hop Is Dead,” Nas’ Def Jam debut. The set has sold 743,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. (source)

So basically, nothing’s changing LOL. Cause really, one version is how black people say it. One version is how white people say it. He trying to stir up some shiznizzle!

And I love how L.A. Reid was trying to do damage control with the press, but you just NOW he was bangin’ on Nas’ door like, “Nigga what you DOIN’!?” Cause L.A. Reid looks like he will cuss a dude out, lip glass and all. Don’t play with Daddy’s money Nas. He will have you out on the strip workin’ for that ringtone money ROFL.

As far as calling out Jesse Jackson, Nas’ should ride on him like David Banner did Al Sharpton and then do a pay-per-view special debating their viewpoints. I’d pay for that download that from the Internet for free!

Nas tryin’ to stir up some ish! I love it. He gonna get Cheri Dennis-ed (yes I made that a verb) if he keep playing though.

Nas Titles His New Album “N*gga”, YT’s Riot In Streets

15 10 2007

Nas done went and made the YT’s mad ya’ll.

Nas Reveals Controversial Title Of New LP At NYC Gig
Album’s name will pose challenges for retailers, media.

By Shaheem Reid

NEW YORK — The n-word it is.

On Friday night at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, Nas announced the title of his next album: He said it will be called Nigga and released in December. A source close to the project confirmed the name on Saturday.

Nas has said he’d planned to use that title for his last LP before he changed it to Hip-Hop Is Dead. If the December date holds firm, Nas will have a very busy winter. On November 6 he’s releasing his Greatest Hits LP. A video for one of the two new songs on the project, “Surviving the Times,” will be shot soon. Last week, super producer Jermaine Dupri — who has already completed tracks for Jay-Z’s American Gangster — told MTV News he would love to be involved in Nas’ upcoming new LP.  (source)

I think this is retarded and also hilarious. I can’t wait to see what all the YT reporters and news outlets are gonna say.

They gonna be like, “Tonight at 6: Rapper Nas release his new album titled “N word” today to much controversy. Details at 6!” HI-LAIR-E-YUS.

But let’s not forget people — Big Baby Jesus AKA Dirt McGirt AKA Ol’ Dirty Bastard already pulled this stunt some years ago:

So this really isn’t THAT bad. Like I say, “nigga” stands for Never Ignorant Getting Goals Accomplished. At least when it’s applied to me!

New Music: Nas - “Surviving The Times”

8 10 2007

Nas - “Surviving The Times” (Download)

Oh snap, did Nas sample my favorite movie ever, “The Wiz”?!

Yes, yes he did! RIP Nipsey Russell.

I’m a huge Nas fan, and I am guessing this is going to be on his upcoming “Greatest Hits” release. I like what hear. Team Nas!

As far as I’m concerned, I’ll go see Denzel’s movie and skip Jay-Z’s record, and buy Nas’ on the 7th of November instead.

Hip-Hop just can’t get a break

3 08 2007

An upcoming free concert designed to lift the spirits of students at Virginia Tech has come under fire (pun not intended, I swear) for featuring Nas, because his lyrics “are indicative of the moral decay in our society that contributes to acts of violence”, according to one parent.

“For a university official to condone it or to be clueless of what this person’s track record is, it’s unconscionable beyond belief,” said Vincent J. Bove, a New Jersey security expert who has volunteered to speak for the families.

University officials, however, said they have received an overwhelmingly positive response since they announced the concert Wednesday and have no plans to revise the lineup. (Source)

This is a mess because I think Nas would have enough sense to not sing lyrics about guns on stage. He’s not stupid! He has just as many uplifting songs, come on now. The saddest part is you know if Pearl Jam was going to perform at this thing NO ONE would be saying “Hey, what about that song where the kid shoots up the school?”

My girl disco_balla over at ONTD said it best: “Hip-Hop is the new American scapegoat. Get caught using the N-word? Blame hip-hop! Cheated on your wife? Blame hip-hop! Flunked out of school? Blame hip-hop! I wanna call American Express and tell them my payment was late last month because Biggie Smalls told me to not pay my bills.”

Nas: “Kelis and I were treated like terrorists” in San Diego

3 05 2007

Nas says he recently canceled a planned show at San Diego’s House of Blues because he and his entourage, including wife Kelis, were treated “like terrorists” upon their arrival, according to All Hip Hop.

“We had a whole bunch of security guys rush outside to me and my wife like we were terrorists. Its not like I came with 50 guys or nothing. It was just me, my wife, my DJ and my staff for the ‘Hip-Hop Is Dead’ tour and they came at us like we was Osama Bin Laden or somebody.”

Nas added that next time he comes to San Diego, he will play at a different, larger venue.

Hmmmmm, she didn’t have any trouble getting in with her trailer park glam on and all 19,307 entourage members.
