Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger was an Australian born actor in the movies. Heath Ledger started his career in Australia doing roles in television and pics. Subsequently he moved to the United States where he started to make a name for himself in the pictures. Some of the Hollywood movies he acted in are The Patriot, Monster’s Ball and A Knight’s Tale.
He became a star with his portrayal of a gay cowboy Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain. This role won Heath Ledger a host of award nominations of which he won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actor in 2005. His next acclaimed role was as the Joker in The Dark Knight for which he won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award. Heath Ledger also produced and directed music videos.
Tragically Heath Ledger died at the age of 28, from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.
