John Clayton Mayer is an American musician of great distinction. His first two albums ‘Rooms for Squares’ and ‘Heavier Things’ got immense commercial popularity and became multi platinum albums. He also got the ‘Best Male Pop Vocal Performance Grammy Award in 2003 for the song ‘Your Body is a Wonderland’ and in 2007 for ‘Waiting on the World to Change’. Additionally, John Mayer’s album Continuum also received the Grammy for the ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ in 2007.

Although he originally started off with acoustic Rock, John Mayer became more inclined towards the more melodious blues genre, influences of which can be heard in the ‘Continuum’. Apart from music videos and albums, John Mayer has also got other career pursuits. He’s a stand up comedian, writer and designer. He’s contributed articles extensively to several magazines, the most notable among them being Esquire. He also writes lyrics for his songs.

In several of his interviews, John Mayer has promoted the ‘Back To You’ Fund that raises finances by auctioning his exclusive items, such as Fotos, his Guitar, T-Shirts. All funds are used in areas like health care, the arts, education, and talent development. He also aims at raising awareness about Global warming and encourages people to look for alternates to reduce the strain on nature. 

Personally John Mayer has dated quite a few celebrities –Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Anniston, Minka Kelly, and Jessica Simpson. In fact, he seems to be cited as the reason that Jessica’s current boyfriend, Tony Romo, broke up with her the night before her birthday. To make her feel a little better, John sent across a DVD of him in concert. It is said that Jessica stayed up the whole night watching the DVD.
