Throwback of the Day: “Why Can’t You Come Home” Ex-Girlfriend (1991)
15 12 2007I’ll be perfectly honest. Until about two hours ago, I didn’t know this song existed. VH1 Soul is to blame for this.
These girls are getting it vocally! The production is classic Full Force. The early ’90s are a TRIP! On the downside, not ONE of these chicks is cute. I’m mad as hell at the one with the bottom row of braces. The jazz hands and confused looks at the end of shots (don’t act like you didn’t notice!) are another staple of this era of music videos. As is the a capella vamp at the end. They had to make sure we all knew they could sing for real. Nowadays you’re lucky if the artist will perform live IN CONCERT.

Hey!!! I remember this song! It was on one of my taped-off-the-radio bootleg mix tapes. Actually I’d never seen the video until just now! The jazz hands, posing, and dancing in boot camp gear in the middle of a factory that was standard in all R&B/Hip Hop videos in the 90s were all kinds of funny! They were talented though! Unfortunately, the way things are nowadays, there would be no way that a group like this would ever see the light of day.
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WAY THESE GIRLS LOOK THEY ARE AS CUTE AS THEY CAN BE DAM .. WHY DOES EVERYONE NEED TO LOOK LIKE CASSIE OR BEYONCE IF THEY ARE CUTE THEY Cant sing if they are ugly they can sing but…… they ugly dam why cant we just listen to the music thats why music sucks now i geuss all of the legends from back in the day would not have a chance in todays world…..

Oh wow, I remember this song now! I had forgotten all about these girls (shows how many brain cells I’ve killed over the years, lol). Although I must say, I didn’t need that a cappella ending, and I sure as hell could have done without that high-pitched squeal ole girl threw in there.

What is this Creole Tomfoolery? They think if you throw in a few Creole Voodoo Priestesses, and a Black sheep you have a hit. They all look like broke down Tisha Campbell’s and one Tichina Arnold.
